What size propane bottle can I use?

The Volcano comes ready to hook up to the common 20lb cylinders. If you purchase the Propane Valve Adapter , you can use almost any size bottle.

Do you offer wholesale pricing?

Yes we do.There is an initial stocking order and you will have to maintain that volume for each quarter.  We will warehouse the product for you and drop ship, but the requirements are the same and you will have to pay an $8.00 drop ship fee with every order.

Do you offer group, military or senior discounts?

Not at this current time. We do, however, offer group discounts. Discounts start at quantity 50.

Can you use a pressure cooker with the Volcano?

Absolutely. We have seen it effectively used with both the 20lb bottles and the 1lb bottles. Sharon, from Simply Canning , uses the Volcano often. The Volcano is especially great for canning if you live somewhere that has HOT summers.. No need to heat up your house.. Use the Volcano on the back porch.

How much weight will the Volcano hold?

The Volcano can safely hold up to 400 lbs. We have seen more, but we don't recommend it. Don't use it as a jack for your F350. Don't ask us how we know.

What are the dimensions of the Collapsible Grill

The Collapsible grill is 18 X 18 X 6 when shipped and collapsed.

Footprint when open. 19.5" diameter circle

Height when open - 10.75 inches

Weight - Volcano Collapsible with propane 26 lbs.
Volcano Collapsible w/o propane is 19 lbs.

What size of Dutch oven fits in the Volcano?

Almost any 12" or 10" Dutch oven works inside the Volcano. If you are using charcoal, you may use either a "Camp Style" Dutch oven (with legs) or a "Kitchen Style" without legs. If you are cooking with propane, you MUST use a "Camp Style" Dutch oven or your will burn your food.
We prefer the Camp Chef Dutch oven.

My Lodge Dutch oven tips in the grill

We prefer and recommend Camp Chef -at least until we come out with our own in 2012- If you have Lodge Dutch oven, rest the part under the handle on one of the tabs this should make it balance well.

How can I clean the lid?

The lid can be washed with WARM soapy water and then air dried. Do not use harsh chemicals of any kind or you will shorten the life of the lid.

Can you use foil in the bottom to catch grease?

Yes you can. Just make sure that the foil does not cover the vent holes or performance will be affected.

Can my Volcano be washed in with water?

It is NOT recommended. If you do wash it out with water, make sure that you use pressurized air to dry everywhere, especially the vents and vent bar or they will rust.

What is the best way to store my grill?

The best way to store your grill is put flat, not on its side, without anything on top of it. Be sure to spray or wipe it down with a little oil so that it does not rust. If you live in a high humidity area, we suggest putting it into a large plastic garbage bag and then into the case, after you have oiled it.

Can I burn coal in the Volcano?

No. Some coal burns at around 1500 degrees, which is too hot for the Volcano. It will warp the bottom pan and void your warrant.

How much wood can I use?

The Volcano was never designed to be a fire pit. When you cook with wood as your fuel source, make sure that the flame is never higher than the top of the Volcano. Too much fire will damage the paint and void your warranty.

What if my Volcano jams and won't open?

First, inspect your stove for any major dents. If it was damaged in shipping, please give us a call. If it is not damaged, then try to collapse it again. Using just one hand, give a very sharp, strong tug on the handle. Don't touch the body of the stove or the legs. If that does not work, collapse the stove as best you can. Then turn the stove UPSIDE DOWN, hold it with two hands so that is it level and drop it onto a carpeted surface. Once you have done that, turn the stove right side up and, again, give it a sharp tug to open it. If, at this point, it does not open, please give us a call.

Where is the Volcano made?

We used to have the Volcano made right here in Salt Lake City. However, the price of metal and labor became too high and we moved our production off shore to China. However, we still have a few of both the Volcano Originals and Volcano Collapsibles that were made in the USA. They are only available with the propane attachment and are priced at $259.95.

How long will my propane bottle last?

At wide open a 1lb bottle of propane will last about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The 20lb size will last about 22 hours at wide open. These numbers will, of course, be much larger if you are cooking on a low heat.

How do I clean my stove?

To clean your Volcano, never take it apart or wash it. Just remove the top and bottom grills, close the draft, hold firmly, turn upside down and shake out ashes (make sure the coals are completely burnt out or remove the hot coals from stove and either put them in water or bury). For Volcano II Collapsible Stove owners…Collapse the stove by lifting the lower section, which also closes the vents. (Keep fingers away for legs while lifting.) Turn the stove upside down and shake. Turn the stove right side up and wipe out any remaining ash. Return the Volcano II Collapsible Stove unit to operating position by lifting the carrying handle exposing the entire fire chamber and wipe out any remaining ash. We recommend after each use that all inside surfaces be wiped with a small amount of vegetable oil. This will help prevent rusting of the internal chambers. Store horizontally.

What is that white coating on my new Volcano?

The white coating that comes on every new Volcano is  a harmless vegetable based coating that prevents rust. The first time that you cook with the Volcano the coating will burn off. It is tasteless and, unless you catch it on fire, odorless. When you are finished cooking with your Volcano, we suggest that you tap out the ashes, wipe it out with a paper towel coated with vegetable oil or spray the inside of you Volcano with Pam or similar to protect it until the next use.

Both the Volcano Original and the Volcano Collapsible can be used with three different fuels, propane, charcoal or wood.  This sets it apart from almost all stoves like the rocket stove, for example. The Volcano Collapsible can also collapse to just 5", making it easy to store and transport.
